Go and have that hot stone massage, or <insert your favourite thing here>!

Life can be super busy, even doing the normal everyday things

On the weekends these days, I find myself with my children’s sports on both Saturday and Sunday, with cleaning, grocery shopping and cooking slotted in where necessary.

Through the week, I head to the gym most mornings as I balance full time work and being a wife and mum to two active 11 year old twins. This can mean taking them to training in the evening three times a week, as well as tutoring for one of them on another night.

It’s busy, but I wouldn’t swap it for the world.

Planning is key to weeknights to ensure that I cook most nights so that we’re not constantly getting take away.

Every now and then though, I make sure that I make some extra special time for ME!

I love a hot stone massage, and I try and fit it in when it is needed!

It isn’t at the same time every 3 months, it is when I believe it is necessary.

In preparation, I check my calendar and plan when it will suit best. It can’t be when I have commitments after as I won’t relax throughout the massage. It also means that they can use the fragrant oils when massaging my head, rather than dry massage which I don’t find as effective.

By taking the relatively small time out, it feels as though I’ve had an even greater time out due to the flow on relaxation effect.

Prioritising you when YOU need it is a critical piece to ensuring that you operate effectively.

I used to think I didn’t have the time with everything going on, but starting out with understanding what you feel like when you don’t have time out for yourself is the key.

My husband was actually the one who made me realise that I would need to go for a walk or he would encourage me to have some time out to do some meditation as I was feeling anxious and stressed about small things.

Having someone you know telling you that “it’s ok” to take a break is one of the first steps to ensuring that you make the most of the time you take.

Making the most of whatever time out activity you choose is essential to making sure you feel revived and ready to take on the world (even if it only lasts for a short time).

Your family will love you for it (and so will your body and mind)!
