Are you feeling undervalued and unappreciated?  You’re not alone.  Many of my mentee clients express the same complaint. 

When I hear this, I’m saddened as I know that the individual is disengaged, potentially feeling unproductive and they have begun to question their capability and have started looking for the exit.

Unfortunately, if we don’t understand or are unable to articulate the value that we bring to the table, then a new employer may not fix the underlying problem.

One of the first things that I do with any of my mentees, is work with them to identify and articulate what they bring to the table.  This is your “Superpower”, and this is what sets you apart from everyone else.

The second part of the equation is asking yourself how your Superpower helps meet the strategic goals of your organisation.  If you’re working at a large organisation, you can feel like you’re working away but not making any progress.  Understanding what you do daily and how it affects the overall success in your company brings significant clarity and shows that all of us have a part to play.
