Stress is something that everyone experiences at some time in their lives. It can be a small thing that’s niggling at you, or something that has been bugging you for a while; no matter what the situation is, stress is a pain to relieve. Here are some easy ways you can reduce your stress levels naturally, and reduce your chances of having panic attacks.

Meditate

It’s no secret that meditation is a great way to relieve stress, but you don’t have to sit in a corner for an hour humming to yourself to meditate. Sometimes, just sitting at your desk for a couple of minutes with your eyes closed can be all you need to minimise your anxiety. Sit up straight, place your feet flat on the floor, close your eyes and take a few deep breaths. This will counter the effects of stress by slowing down your heart rate and lowering your blood pressure. It only takes five minutes, and the weight on your shoulders will feel lifted and gone.

Cuddle Your Pet

If you’re feeling a bit down in the dumps, a sure fire way to relieve any unwanted feelings is by giving your little fur pal a cuddle. Dogs are great companions to have, and they’re always down for a hug. Spending time with pets can drastically reduce your stress and anxiety levels, plus they’re great to talk to. Pets don’t judge you, they only love you.

Get Outside

Sometimes if you’re in a crowded space like an office, you just need to get some fresh air. Take a short break and get outdoors. If you’re at home, go out to your backyard, take your shoes off and feel the grass between your toes. If you don’t have any grass, artificial grass is a great alternative. The tingling of grass is a great stress reliever, and it opens you up to different senses and feelings that you may be lacking. If you’re in the city or in a place with no garden anywhere close, just go for a walk. Fresh air and exercise is a great way to get your blood pumping and increasing your endorphins!

Sleep

Naps are the best way to relieve stress. After a long day, you should get into your comfiest clothes, eat some yummy food and take a nap. Sleep rejuvenates your brain, giving you energy for the days ahead. Snuggle up in your doona, turn off the lights and have a snooze, it will really help you reduce your anxiety. If you don’t have time to sleep, take a 20-minute power nap. They are proven to reduce your risk of cognitive dysfunction and help relieve any unwanted stress. Grab an eye pillow to block out light and take a power nap. You’ll feel better, promise.

Do Something Creative

If you need to take your stress out on something, but you don’t know exactly what, get creative! Grab a pencil and some paper and jot down your feelings, draw a picture or start fixing that leaking tap! Unleashing any inner feelings you have will make you feel less stressed, and you’ll have something to show for it. Put your stress to good use!

Stress is something everyone experiences, but you shouldn’t have to put up with it. These steps are easy to do, wherever you are and can help you reduce that stress that is getting bottled up.
